Gareth Allison studied at Liverpool John Moores University. He completed his degree in 2001 and graduated from his diploma in 2004. His diploma work led him to investigate sustainable building techniques. Through competition work he has designed a road bridge in Hamburg, a public swimming pool complex in Birkenhead and achieved runner up prize for a commemorative tower sited at the Olympic games in Rio 2016.

He worked in the education and healthcare sectors before switching to concentrate on domestic scale work in 2005 when he joined a young practice and worked as an Architect and job runner for over 7 years helping establish the company achieve award winning status.
Throughout that time he managed a variety of projects. These included a private recording studio, listed Victorian town house apartment conversion, a sustainable new build private residence and successfully completed a range of extension projects involving various Victorian terrace town houses to semi detached houses whilst successfully negotiating challenging planning requirements, listed building restrictions and conservation area guidelines.

More recent work, carried out within the Gareth Allison Design practice, includes two new build low carbon houses, a semi detached rear ground floor glass extension, and is also working on a 30 unit time share development in Scotland.
